Rare skin cancers

October 2012

Skin cancer comes in many shapes and sizes. It can develop in a mole. Sometimes, it looks like a new mole on the skin. These are warning signs of melanoma, a type of skin cancer that can be deadly. With early detection and treatment, melanoma can be cured.

Warning signs of rare skin cancers are different. One type of rare skin cancer often looks like a stye that just wonít go away. Another type can look like a scar. Because people do not think of these changes as signs of skin cancer, these skin cancers often go undiagnosed in the early stages.

To help you find changes early, we feature a video that shows you how to examine your skin for signs of skin cancer. Youíll also find links to pages that show what some rare skin cancers look like.

Is an online pharmacy putting your health at risk?
Filling your prescription online may be convenient and less expensive, but there are risks. You might be doing business with a fake pharmacy. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), you have to be careful. Too many people are receiving medicine that is counterfeit, contaminated, or expired.

To create awareness of these risks, the FDA created a public awareness campaign. This campaign tells you what you need to know so that you can safely fill prescriptions online.
