Structures spread shade – One community at a time
Is your community protected from the sun? The Academy's Shade Structure Program spreads shade across the country by providing much-needed grants to schools and local community organizations. Says Eva Fogg from Westwood Charter Elementary School, a 2011 grant recipient, "During a time of continuous and deep cuts to school budgets, the shade structure grant was a little ray of hope for us!"

La Roche-Posay raises funds to build a shade structure – Ten bucks at a time La Roche-Posay conducted an interactive computer screen quiz for physicians visiting their booth at the Academy’s Annual Meeting in San Diego last month to help raise funds for the Academy’s Shade Structure Program. Each time the two-question quiz was completed, a $10 donation was made to help build one shade structure, which costs $9,500. Annual Meeting attendees eagerly participated and watched the real-time counter show the progress toward funding a complete shade structure.
